I’ve been putting off doing the write up on this beer, but it is well overdue as the beers sold out in less than a day, and most of them are on their way to you now. I have a few 4 packs still up my sleeve that I was going to release later, but now I think I’ll just drink them.

This project has given me an opportunity to trial a whole lot of different ideas for hazy beer. I developed a system at my last workplace over a number of years, but it was an established business with a lot of stakeholders. Like it or not, that changed the way I thought about risk. I saw how shitty it was for my co-workers when I took a punt on an idea and it didn’t pay off. That kind of thing weighs heavily on your conscience.

EMC is a different animal. The fact that most of the beer is presold is a major factor - I don’t have an economic incentive to play by the rules. I have been tweaking a few different variables in the pursuit of a new skeleton of a hazy to build new recipes onto, and this time I chose to use all of them at once. Ridiculous salt profile, zero boil hops, “cool pooling” (what a bunch of wank), hop terpenes, pushing the boundaries on lipid heavy adjuncts. Plus a touch of cannabis terpenes just for fun. There’s probably more, but I can’t think of it now. Maybe I’ll speak about them in a future release.

This beer was made possible due to slamming out the last 4 pack to get them out for Halloween, which gave me an extra tank. I am pretty broke at the moment, as I built this zero-investor zero-debt model off the back of selling pre subscriptions, and I spent all that money ages ago. Having a beer release that I could actually make money on was a very alluring proposition.

Since I packed this beer I’ve had both my tradewaste pump and hot water give out, so perhaps it would have been smarter to keep it for a subscriber pack BUT IT IS TOO LATE FOR THAT NOW. I’ll crunch the schedule later to get back on track. In the meantime, I think this beer rocks and I hope you do too.

Enjoy.
