This one was a bit of a perfect storm - I discovered that I had a big bag of Nelson Sauvin that had been purchased unnecessarily. I looked through my box of terpenes (I tend to buy some and write recipes later) and discovered I had an unallocated NSN terpene.
Perfect.
There’s a vanishingly small number of hops that can be lonely like this, without other hops to support. This one, Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Galaxy…. actually there’s probably a bunch. But unfortunately a lot are unable to give the goods, which sucks as its a great way to test out newer varietals.
This brew day was a bit annoying as I missed the mash temp. This lead to a bit higher attentuation than I anticipated, but luckily the smooth malt profile and high chlorides give it the illusion of body, and the extra booze helps carry the hops through.
Enjoy.
