I had to actually do research on this bloody beer.
The beer itself its simple. Single malt, single hop, single yeast (obvs).
But the manufacturer calls this yeast a “modern hybrid lager yeast”, which is of course 90% marketing drivel and 10% a reference to the way they managed to create a strain that doesn’t produce sulphur during ferment, or “rhino farts” as an elder brewer once taught me.
I have no idea how that works, as my understanding was that the sulphur compounds were released when yeast had insufficient nitrogen, and stripped it from other molecules which released the stank. Dunno if that is true, now that I think about it. Hugh Dunn told me that once, but I was probably drunk at the time so I may have misunderstood.
But yeah, that marketing wank about “modern lager” strain got me thinking…what if this is the thing that makes the (18+) kids finally discover the wonderful world of beer, with all its black brewery tees and hangovers and persistent beer guts? I’d hate for them to miss out.
Then I started researching zoomer terms and culture, and I gotta tell ya, it was awful. Not worth it, no cap.
Beer is good though.
